Stik2it sells colored Post-it® Notes two completely different ways, and it's easy to assume they're the same thing. They're not — and knowing the difference can save you money or get you a color that isn't in our catalog at all.
The short answer
- Genuine colored paper — the color is baked into the paper stock itself. You pick from our 8 standard colors, and we print your logo or message on top in a single ink color.
- Full-Color floodcoat — the paper itself is plain white, but we print a solid color (or any color, or a photo, or a gradient) across the whole sheet as part of a full-color digital print job. We call this a "floodcoat." It costs nothing extra — it's just another full-color print.
If you want any color, not just the 8 we stock, floodcoat is how you get it.
Genuine colored paper: what you're actually getting
When you order from our Colored Post-it® Notes lineup, you're choosing paper that's dyed that color all the way through — Cosmic Pink, Recycled Blue, White, Canary Yellow, Premium Green, Premium Orange, Premium Yellow, or Recycled Green. Two of those (Recycled Blue and Recycled Green) are made from recycled stock, which matters if sustainability messaging is part of your brand.
Two things to know before you order:
- Minimum order is 10 pads. Fine for most reorders, but worth knowing if you just want to test one design.
- Your imprint is a single ink color — Black, Blue, or Red. You pick one of those three for your logo or text on top of the paper color. You can't print a second color, a photo, or a gradient on a genuine-colored-paper order.
This option is the simplest and most cost-effective way to get a clean, branded look in one of our 8 colors with a one-color logo or message.
Full-Color floodcoat: how you get any color you want
Our Full Color Post-it® Notes line prints full-color digital artwork on plain white paper — which means the "paper color" is really just whatever you tell us to print across the background. We call a solid-color background a floodcoat. You're not limited to 8 options; you can match your exact brand color, use a gradient, or run a photo edge-to-edge.
The part most customers don't expect: a floodcoat doesn't cost more. Full Color pricing is based only on pad size, number of pads, and sheets per pad — the same price whether your artwork is a few lines of black text or a full-bleed colored background. There's no separate "background color" or "floodcoat" charge anywhere in the order form.
Full Color also drops the minimum order all the way down to 1 pad — useful if you want to try a design, need a small batch for a single event, or just don't need 10+ pads of one color.
So which should you order?
| Genuine Colored Paper | Full Color (Floodcoat) | |
|---|---|---|
| Color options | 8 fixed paper colors | Any color, gradient, or photo |
| Minimum order | 10 pads | 1 pad |
| Imprint colors | 1 (Black, Blue, or Red) | Unlimited |
| Extra cost for a colored background | N/A — it's the paper | None — same price either way |
| Best for | A simple one-color logo on one of our standard colors, larger orders, recycled-stock options | Exact brand-color matching, multi-color logos, photos/gradients, small or one-off orders |
If one of our 8 standard colors is close enough and you only need a single-color imprint, genuine colored paper is the simpler, often more economical choice for bigger orders. If you need your exact brand color, a logo with more than one ink color, or you just want a small test batch, order Full Color and let us floodcoat the background — it won't cost you anything extra to do it.
